EVENTS

This month, in addition to our established shelter programs and outreach efforts, we organized some special events for more underprivileged families in Armenia:

Beginning of the month, we distributed shoes and monthly sponsorship funds

  • Donated medical supplies to Metsamor’s medical center
  • Distributed to 200 poor school children bags of educational necessities, like stationary and pencils and pens, for theirreturn to school on September 1.We invited Parakar’s music and dance studio and they accepted and were in attendance, and we organized a special and very fun event around this distribution. Armenia TV made a short news report about it, and it was aired in Armenia.
  • The first liturgy was performed in our church followed by the christening of seven children and one mother, all of whom are residents at our shelter.

We proudly continue our “FEED THE ELDERS” and “BIBLE STUDY” programs at the center, which have become hugely popular. The elders are very grateful to the sponsors for their meals. Our “Bible Study” program teaches the Word of God and how to apply these lessons in our every day lives. We are grateful to Der Yeghia Hayrabedian of Fresno who continuously supplies us with religious teachings.

MYRADOON

The majority of our shelter residents started to work and earn money, and we help them save their earnings for their future independence and healthy living outside our shelter. After leaving the shelter, we continue to maintain contact with our graduate residents, and offer resources and support to the extent that we can. Six of our residents are in our “post shelter” program – four in rental homes in different villages and two recently moved in our newly built, donated homes (by our Founders) in our village. In our post-shelter housing, the residents are given a six month trial period. We visit them every day and help them with whatever we can.We also continue to conduct various educational and vocational training at our shelter, including cooking, sewing, manicure and pedicure classes, as a means to help our residents acquire practical skills to improve their economic situation.

CHARITY

We express our deep gratitude to Natali Pharm for donating organic HIPP baby food. This baby food is given not only to our shelter babies but also to the hungry children in neighboring communities. Our volunteer doctor, gynecologist and dentists continue their activities and provide much needed medical care and attention to the abused women and children at our shelter and also to the participants of our “Feed the Elders” and “Bible Study” programs. Recently, the dentists started training another one of our residents to become a nurse.

We also continue to serve our main mission – to help everybody in need. As usual, we received a lot of letters of requests for help this month, and we are doing all we can to keep up with the growing need for funds, food, clothing and other necessities. We also continue to help every new immigrant (mostly from Syria) that comes to our doors and asks us for assistance.

WE NEED YOUR HELP TO DO THIS WORK. PLEASE SHARE YOUR BLESSINGS WITH THE UNFORTUNATE….

Please make your heartfelt donation.
