GUESTS

July was an extremely busy month for ALCF. Our founders came to Armenia! And every day since arriving, they have been striving to make the life of the Shelter residents more interesting and productive through new programs and initiatives.

  • Our founder’s grandchildren visited the Center and took part in many activities; they visited a village and distributed clothing, shoes, toys and other items of necessity. Their presence at the Center brought lots of joy and renewed enthusiasm to our staff, Residents and program participants.
  • Bulbulian brought some supporters from Germany, and they taught our Residents how to make jewelry. They visited a second time and brought large amounts of food. They also performed a puppet show telling stories of the Bible, which the children at the Shelter loved!
  • This is the third year again the Fuller Center headed by Leo and Sonia Manuelian visited our facilities. They were welcomed with refreshments and fruits.
  • Guests from Sweden visited us and sponsored an elderly luncheon.
  • Zepure Ohannesian visited and brought her sisters and some friends, and they sponsored three elderly luncheons. They generously gifted a special item for our on-site church – a silver Alter-Dove to pour Chrism.
  • Lucine Balkjian, a long time supporter with her sisters, visited us and sponsored an elderly luncheon.

Our deepest gratitude to all those who visited us and donated funds and other necessities. Our guests have a very positive effect on our Residents; they stop thinking about their problems and feel loved and cared for.

MYRADOONWe are so proud to announce that another successfully left our Shelter happy, economically more independent and safe. She came to us from  Ashtarak, recommended for urgent assistance by the municipality, with 3 underage children in our domestic violence program. After one month, we moved them to a home found them a sponsor and was able to get a job! This abused Resident took full advantage of all we had to offer – she acquired new skills to secure employment and sough the regular assistance and guidance of our Shelter staff and in-house therapist to build her self-esteem and improve her mental health. As with all of our other Residents, we will continue to assist her and her children and provide needed guidance and support until she is completely independent and financially emancipated.

POST SHELTERWe are proud to announce that ALCF is the first “Post Shelter” program in Armenia, as a way to transition residents who are no longer in danger but not yet ready to live on their own. It is a long time we are preparing for and working on this. We built several post-Shelter houses and furnished them, and now we have placed our first Resident there. We chose one of our former Residents who is very responsible, hard working and does her best to take care of her children. We are going to try a 6 month trial period to test this new program and improve it. As part of the post-Shelter program, in addition to the transitional housing, we will provide spiritual and psychological support throughout the program and continue to provide educational classes. Clothing, shoes and food assistance will also be provided.

AID TO THE COMMUNITIES

The pleas for the assistance from underprivileged families multiplied in July. We also received lots of letters of requests.

We gave out baby food to the needy in neighboring villages.

This month our Foundation provided wedding gowns, wheelchairs, walkers and bedside toilets to the underprivileged in different communities.

We continue helping Syrian families that come to our doors and ask us for assistance. This month we sent boxes of winter clothing to Karabakh’s Derzor city for the Syrian-Armenians.

The donated medical items that were collected in the US were donated to Armavir region’s 3 medical centers.

Our “Feed The Elders”, “Sponsor a Family” and “Bible Study” programs are going on full force because of the donors who help us make it a reality.

WE NEED YOUR HELP TO DO THIS WORK. PLEASE SHARE YOUR BLESSINGS WITH THE UNFORTUNATE….

Please make your heartfelt donation.
