Monthly Newsletter April 2014
MYRADOON
This month was full of joyful events and celebrations. We celebrated Khetume, Easter eve, our residents went to church and afterwards they gathered around the dinner table which was full of Easter meals. During our “Bible Study” classes, the Pastor was explaining the essence of Easter. Teaching them religious values and highlighted the importance of Easter in our Christian walk.
The other holiday in April was the Mothers’ Day (in Armenia). It coincides with the birthday of Mariam – Mother of God. The celebration of this holiday is also very important for us, because all the residents of our shelter are either mothers or soon will become one.
One of our former residents visited us to celebrate her daughter’s birthday party with us. It’s a proof that our work is appreciated. It makes us happy.
Our girls continue their manicure, pedicure, computer and sewing classes. They also work in our green house and participate in environmental improvement works. We give much importance to work and disseminate diligence in them as only by honest work they can earn their living, become independent and get on their feet in this life.
Our former residents are always on our agenda. Many of them get monthly monetary assistance and items of necessity. This month on the occasion of Easter all of our former residents got presents.
AID TO THE COMMUNITIES
Beside the main mission of the foundation, we have other missions as well: that is to help everybody in need. As usual, this month too, we received a lot of letters of request, lists of extended families from the communities, who need clothes, shoes, bags and other necessary items.
The needy families of the neighboring villages also receive baby food.
We continue helping every new immigrant (Syrian family) that comes to our doors and ask us for assistance.
Our “Feed The Elders” “Sponsor a family” and “Bible Study” programs are going on full force because of people like you who help us make it a reality. We are grateful to you all.
CURRENT EVENTS
There is a channel running in front of our Armeniaoffice, which was much polluted and was a health hazard, mostly for our children. So we asked the appropriate people for help, soon they came and cleaned the channel. We are grateful for that.
We are grateful to Tony and Ruth Markarian of Orange County who donated money to purchase meat (a full cow) for the shelter. The meat was assorted and put in the freezer, so for a long time we will have meat for our residents and our elders.
We are grateful to Carla Bedrosian our board member. On April 5th she organized a fundraising event in her office in California for her associates and friends, during which some handsome amount of money was gathered which will serve our charitable works.
We are so grateful that a40 foot container was filled with all your donated merchandise in front of our warehouse in Signal Hill, USA, now heading to Armenia by ship. With the help of Counterpart International USAID transportation was free of charge.
Without your contributions and donations not only today but also through the years we wouldn’t be able to fulfill our projects. God bless you all.
