MYRADOON
Our Hot Line number (free of charge to the caller: 20-80) rings more often than ever. We try to take in as many women with children as we can because the weather is still very cold, they have small babies and we are the only shelter in Armenia that supports and houses the abused women with children. At this time we have started to use other areas besides the full bedrooms to provide shelter for their safety. Because of the need, we had to change our rules and conditions in taking them in and made it more flexible for those who come with 3 or more children and for those whose children are older than 3 years old. We put new guidelines and after taking them in we work to provide their safe release.
Today we have 19 mothers and 23 children living in our shelter. Among them are 4 newborns. We thank our Lord for helping so many people living under one roof and all are healthy. We are grateful to all the medical centers that constantly work with us, our gynecologist who takes a wonderful care of our residents and our dentists who come every week. We continue cooperating with the Mission of Armenia (an organization for refugees). This month they sent an Iranian girl with her newborn baby to our center. We also continue working with the Red Cross and Human Rights Office.
We give different opportunities for our shelter residents to work and earn money, helping them to save for their future independence and healthy living outside our shelter. After leaving the shelter we continue to keep tag on them and continue helping them. Our residents continue working in the green house on the property of our center and soon we will have a lot of tomatoes and cucumbers. Everything becomes a reality, because of our founders who work day and night to make it happen. We thank our board members who stand behind us all. Our staff work diligently making sure for everything to happen as planned.
AID TO THE COMMUNITIES
The pleas for assistance from underprivileged families multiplied in March: a lot of letters of request, lists of large needy families from the communities, who need clothes, shoes, bags and other necessary items. We gave aid to the following communities this month: Tavush region’s two communities: Baghanis and Ijevan that border with Azerbaijan and are very needy. We also helped 150 teachers that are out of work and Armavir’s church diocese 100 members. The Foundation did everything to meet their needs. We continue helping every new immigrant (Syrian family) that come to our doors and ask us for assistance. The donated medical items of the different individuals that are collected in the US, were donated to medical centers to be distributed to the villagers free of charge. We are grateful to the Armenian Tree Project for donating a lot of trees and helping us to beautify our center.
