LIGHT OF HOPE
We are proud to continue our “FEED THE ELDERS” Program which has become very popular. One of our elders Sueda dadig did not show for lunch 2 weeks, we were worried and decided to visit her. We found her frozen, starving and almost paralyzed in the basement of a building (her home). She had nothing to eat, no one to care for her. We started to take her warm meals daily, cookies, fruit, juice, cans, medicine, clothes and an angel here offered to pay the electric bill to heat her unit. Now a month later she is recovering and soon will be able to come to our lunch.
We have also given wedding gowns to brides-to-be in many different villages, walkers, wheelchair and bedside toilets. 50 individuals who send us letters of requests from all regions of Armenia received all the items that they had requested.
MYRADOON
Our most recent project was a large green house, on the property of our center. In the green house, our residents learn to grow and maintain vegetable crops. Because many of our residents come from farming communities, working with the land is essential to their survival when they leave the shelter. We teach our residents new skills and multiple ways to earn a living in order to gain financial independence. We offer daily classes in computers, sewing, manicure/pedicure, cooking, and baking.
This month two new girls came to our shelter. One is pregnant and came through International Red Cross, The other one was abused and homeless with her 3 month old child. Both are sheltered and safe.
