MYRADOON
Life continues in our women’s shelter, Myradoon. Our Emergency hot line calls have increased tremendously. There is much violence in Armenia, particularly in its outer regions, due to lack of jobs, education and geographical positions. This month three additional victims of abuse with their innocent children took residency at the shelter. We have 15 girls and 23 children now living at the center. We also gave a shelter to a woman with her 6 years old daughter who came from a remote village. Her husband died she came to Yerevan to find a job, but things went wrong. All the TV stations made a reportage about her and asked for help. Our foundation went for their rescue, not only food and clothes but also a shelter. One of our residents, who has lived the last six months of her pregnancy in the quiet and peace atmosphere of our shelter, delivered a healthy baby on January 6th, that is why we named him Christian.
The goal of the Myradoon program is to show our residents that babies have a right to live and motherhood is a God given gift. We are here to help these mothers to raise happy and healthy children and give them all the tools to have a good life. We continue to fulfill our goal “Let no child go to orphanage”. All our girls participate mandatory in our classes of sewing, cooking, manicure/pedicure and computers. This month our residents visited Russian theater and then toured the city with the foundation’s car.
Bible Study We continue our Bible Study classes with the leadership of Armenian Apostolic church priest. Father Partev did the water Blessing (Jrorhneq) and TV station came and made a program of it which you can see on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=620XzFwF1CU .All our residents plus people from neighboring villages attended the ceremony. The priest blessed our food and then we celebrated the birth of Jesus and his Baptism. Thank God for his blessings.
Aid to the communities ALCF continues to give aid to different communities in villages as well as different individuals who turn to us with their letters of requests. The underprivileged families receive bags of clothes, shoes, toys. We gave to needy families walkers, canes and bedside toilets for their handicap members. Our “Feed The Elders” and “Sponsor a family” programs are going on full force, because of people like you who make it a reality.
We express our deep gratitude to Hipp company for donating baby food. To The Paros Foundation of the Berkeley, California based, for donating 300 pairs of new shoes for children in need under “Share-a-Pair, project 100 for 100 Projects for Prosperity.” Our volunteer dentists that come every week to provide treatment to our residents and their children in our dental facility. We also thank Dr. Yeva Torosyan for taking such wonderful care of all the residents’ gynecological needs. Without your contributions and encouragements not only today but also through the years we wouldn’t be able to fulfill our projects.
WE NEED YOUR HELP TO DO THIS WORK. PLEASE SHARE YOUR BLESSINGS WITH THE UNFORTUNATE….
