VOLUNTEERS

Volunteers are our BIGGEST blessings. On October 6, 2013, a delegation of doctors from London, England provided medical examinations and treatment free of charge to 47 villagers at our center. Team was organized by Dr. Susan Onanyan, a physician from Yerevan, who has been volunteering her time with the ALCF’s Myradoon and Huysi Jerag programs for more than two years. The physicians arrived with medication, inoculations and testing equipment to serve the local villagers for a wide variety of conditions. The London-based volunteers were Dr. Kevork Hopayian, Dr. Seda Boghossian, Dr. Lilian Johnston, and psychologist Liza Kouyoumjian.  Joining them were special guests Sona Mouradian and Richard Surabian from San Francisco, California as well as Talar Stepanian and Sarmen Boghosian.  We express our gratitude to Armenian Volunteer Corps who regularly send us volunteers. This month we have hosted Lucine (conversational English teacher,) and Mira Mirti (General MD.   In particular, we express our gratitude to our volunteer dentists from LUX-MED Dental clinic that come every week to provide treatment to our residents and their children in our dental facility. We also thank Dr. Yeva  Torosyan for taking such wonderful care of all the residents’ gynecological needs.

Myradoon

Myradoon’s goal is “to let no child go to an orphanage.” Here we teach vocational training and new work skills. We already see the positive effects of our shelter’s services on the lives and wellbeing of our residents and their children. We help them feel good about their God-given gift of motherhood by providing them a place to thrive. These women are given the hope and faith that their lives will improve. This month three new girls with their children found residency in our shelter.

AID TO COMMUNITES

A shipping container that originated from the ALCF’s California-based warehouse arrived in Armenia end of October.  The container held different kinds of donations which are being distributed to remote villages. ALCF continues to give aid to different communities in villages as well as different individuals who turn to us with their letters of requests. The underprivileged families receive bags of clothes, shoes, toys and we also gave to needy families four electrical wheelchairs, walkers and bedside toilets for their handicap members. Our “Feed The Elders”  “Sponsor a family” and “Bible Study” programs are going on full force because of people who help us make it a reality.

We thank all the donors who make this job easier and more effective by donating regularly.
